A few months ago, I read a comment on a blog stating that bloggers are egotistical elitist trying to impose their arrogant, uneducated viewpoints on the world. That made me stop and think. I took a break from blogging to think about my purpose, with the added benefit of spending more time with my daughter before her brother's birth. Why I blog.Friends and acquaintances seem to enjoy my blog. I get random compliments at church or from family members--even from people I don't know super well. I don't want to blog for the compliments. I don't want this to be about me. My ego isn't worth my precious alone time, or even worse, time away from my family. I blog for solidarity and education. It began as a way to educate people about what I do, but it developed as a way to reach people. Through my words, I hope to bring solidarity, perspective and encouragement. Solidarity because I am in this chaotic, amazing, exhausting journey of motherhood with many of you. Perspective because I am privileged to guide couples through all walks of life, from the couples yearning for a child, to those who seem to conceive just thinking about a baby. Encouragement because that's what we need the most in this world where we can access a lifetime of information with the push of a button or a question to Alexa. Is it worth it?Time will tell. I am reducing my blogging goal from weekly to twice monthly. Don't be surprised if you only hear from me once a month or so. I have about 5 blogs I wrote on paper that I haven't had time to type up yet. My first priority is to serve the Lord, then my family. You are low on my priority list, dear readers, but that doesn't mean I don't care about you or think and pray often about you. I'll just limit my writing to you for these nights of insomnia or the creative urge during naptime. Now that I've written this blog, maybe I'll stop thinking about it and be able to fall asleep. More than likely I'll turn off my computer and start thinking about what I should have said or what I should write about next. Peace to all of you and good night.
Love, Stephanie
